YOUTH

Youth Ministry

Oh to be a teenager!  The years of life regarded as the “formative years”.  The time of our most important growth, and that doesn’t mean getting taller!  Many teenagers begin to explore who they are as an individual.  One of the most important explorations of today’s teens is faith.  It can be confusing, and for good reason.  How can anyone trust in faith?  It’s an abstract concept that takes some people a lifetime to embrace.  Teens will undoubtedly have questions during their sometimes busy and chaotic lives.  A teen’s life will be filled with the stress of constant changes and the pressure of finding out who they are and what they want to be in life.  When this tension is present, teens will often search for an outlet.  However, the outlet is not always a healthy or safe one.  One of the best environments to help keep them on God’s path is in a youth ministry.

Youth ministries can provide that structure that teens need.  At freedom ministries youth, our desire is to provide an environment where teens can come to experience the life changing love of Jesus and grow in their faith in a safe and loving environment.  We desire to guide them, teach them, discipline them and ultimately to model for them what it means.  Jesus called us to go and make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:19).  Disciples making disciples.  We need one another in this journey.  This generation of Christian youth can then be equipped to go and do the same.

Mike Schultz

I began serving in youth ministry in 1991 for eight years working with junior high and high school students. As time passed, I began to invest in other ministries that included Upward Sports (basketball/soccer), Adult small groups, and various outreach opportunities. God has also allowed me to minister to elementary through high school students as I have been an educator since 1996. I am privileged to be serving alongside my wife, Heather, for all those years. Heather and I have been married since 1993 and have been truly blessed. We have been gifted with two amazing daughters, Jordyn and Riley. God has been so good to our family and He continues to do so.

In 2019, we came to Freedom Ministries and God again ignited the desire to return to youth ministry. We know that this is exactly where God wants us to be. One thing that is clear throughout the Bible, there is no better place to be than in the middle of God’s will. We are excited about the future God has for us at Freedom Ministries. Heather and I would love to have the opportunity to team up with you to grow your teenager in such a critical stage in his/her life.
